Recipe 1/2 part of Rye whiskey
1/2 part of Cognac
1/2 part of sweet vermouth Noilly Prat Rouge
1 bar spoon Bénédictine
2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
2 dashes Angostura bitters

Glassware Rocks/Whisky


Method Combine all ingredients in a rocks glass, add ice cubes, stir and serve.

Garnish None (lemon twist optional)

History Named after the original French name of the « Vieux Quartier », the Vieux Carré cocktail was developed by Walter Bergeron in 1938 when he was working as the head bartender at the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans.
